The basics and benefits of the constructive mindset is explained in Dr. Sinn’s first book, Put Your Potatoes on the Desktop. The first chapter outlines the physiology of emotions and anger, and explains the difference between the destructive and the constructive mindsets. Dr. Sinn then presents a practical homework assignment, which is a way to gain awareness of the mindset you are forming in the context of your emotions and thoughts in life situations.

The next chapters describe practical consequences of the destructive mindset. The reader gains insight into the relevance of the homework assignment to everyday situations. Finally, Dr. Sinn describes the constructive mindset in greater detail, helping people learn to constructively deal with “here and now” potatoes, and learn how to attain constructive relief from the effects of potatoes dealt in the past within the destructive mindset.

Dr. Sinn has written Put Your Potatoes on the Desktop in two versions so far. The basic version is the Standard Version, which deals with emotions, thoughts, and the constructive mindset as described previously. The second version builds on the foundation of the Standard Version by adding occasional commentary of Biblical relevance to the material, and is identified as the Christian Version.

FC Strategy®

FC Strategy® is a board game for 2 or 4 players. It is a strategy game based on the beautiful game, that is, the game of soccer (football). The game can be played entirely as a strategy game, or it can be used as a resource to incorporate the understanding of the constructive mindset in contrast to the destructive mindset. The game can be useful as a resource for couples, families, or counselors with children or adolescents, who are interested in learning about the constructive mindset and having fun playing the game as well.

Future Projects

Be on the watch for further material about the constructive mindset. Dr. Sinn is working on follow-up material consistent with the potato theme, and is also working on material about CMT, or Constructive Mindset Therapy and its place among the repertoire of the varied psychotherapeutic approaches. The company also hopes to develop other games to serve as resources toward learning the constructive mindset.
